Perseverance through life’s afflictions
Pastor Maria Gracia
To persevere is to persist, to continue, in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counterinfluences, opposition, or discouragement. God gives us many promises in His word but what he doesn’t promise is that we would be free of affliction, in fact He confirms that we will pass through afflictions in Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous”, but the good news is in the second part of this verse, “But the LORD delivers him out of them all.” We will all go through afflictions, the important thing is to persevere through them believing in the promise that the Lord will deliver us out of them.
As women we have great influence over our home, though we understand that the man is the head and the one that leads our home, our positive influence can serve as great support in times of affliction. Remembering that we were created with the purpose to be a companion, support and help-mate to our husbands, we need to believe in them at all times and in what God will do in and for you both.
Let us follow the example of the virtuous women, “…she smiles at the future” (Proverbs 31:25), smiling because we put our trust in the Lord believing what is written in James 1:12 “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him”
That we can declare as Paul did, we fought the good fight, finished the race, us and our family, despite the afflictions, believing that we would receive all the blessings from God and the crown of life.
