Women of Faith
Pastor Maria Gracia

In Hebrews 11, the hall of fame of faith, has mention of the “Heroes of Faith”, there we can count 15 men and only 2 women, this passage on supernatural faith challenges us to believe God beyond what our human minds can understand.

What did these two women do to be mentioned in this passage of the Bible?

Why did God choose them to be our models?

Let’s take a look at the life of Sarah and Rahab and maybe we can learn something to stand out and make a mark with our lives that will serve as an example to those that will come after us.

Sarah

An obedient woman In Genesis 12 God blesses Abraham and Sarah and gives them a promise “Go and I will give you a great nation”.  Sarah believed the promise and she left the comfort she had known for an unknown adventure based on a promise that could seem crazy, she remained by her husband’s side until death separated them, in good and bad.  An example to us as we live in a society where marriages don’t last and couples seek a way out of the problems that all couples face, when for God “Divorce is not an option.”

A model wife

In 1 Peter 3:5 we can learn from Sarah to trust in God and submit to our husbands, this passage tells us that she called him master (symbolizing the respect she had for him) and that she did not fear, Sarah obeyed even though he was not perfect… He made mistakes like any person but it was God’s will for her to be obedient because the mistakes of your spouse do not give you the green light to disregard God’s commandments.  Both Abraham and Sarah made mistakes but God was merciful in allowing His promise to be fulfilled in their lives.

A women that believed God

In Hebrews 11:11 it says “By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren—was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise.”  We can learn from this passage that God does not make promises that He cannot fulfill, there is nothing impossible for God (Genesis 18:14).

Though in the natural Sarah’s time to conceive had passed, we learn that God’s timing is not according to our thoughts and ideas.

Sarah leaves a mark in history and in the word of God as a spiritual mother, a mother of multitude and exemplary women that believed despite the obstacles; a women we can learn from, as human’s we can fail God but He is faithful to fulfill his promises.
