The Samaritan Woman
(Part 2 of 2) Pastor Maria Gracia
The Samaritan women won an entire city because she was able to change, there are 5 qualities that helped her go into history as a women of much value.
#1 The disposition to grow
She believed what Jesus spoke to her; despite everything she had lived through she was able to renew her mind and change what she thought of herself and her future. She dared to drink from the water that would satisfy her forever…
#2 The disposition to focus on her purpose
Even with his disciples there she did not lose focus, it did not matter that in her culture it would not be acceptable for her to speak to him but, she was not going to lose her opportunity for this encounter, with her heart telling her, “this is what I need.”
#3 The disposition to leave her jug
By throwing her jug she was declaring that nothing in her past mattered, that day she went to get water and instead she left with eternal life. The water, the jug and all that she knew up until that day no longer mattered, everything would be different from that day on and forever.
#4 The disposition to confront her city
Her reputation was the worst in the city, it must have been a great challenge for her to ‘preach,’ but she did not care, nor did she hold back despite what anyone would say or think, her thought must have been, “they always had something to say about me anyway, I will tell them what happened and with time my fruit will testify that what I say is true.”
Sometimes it’s easier to preach to a stranger that does not know us than the people that really know about our life. Even Jesus went through this as he said in Matthew 13:57, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” We will all find ourselves with the opportunity to share about our encounter with Jesus and our testimony has the power to convince others that if God was able to do it in our lives he can also do it in others.
#5 The disposition to bring an entire city to Christ
She not only believed and had faith to make a change but she also was going to allow God to use her. What she found was too great to not share it with others. She was an evangelist or in simple terms someone that brought the good news.
Why don’t you become an evangelist? Dare to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to all those you know, telling them how he died for all of us, he resurrected and that he wants to quench our thirst once and for all.
