Heroes of faith

In a society where celebrities are dependent on drugs and the media has an open war against moral values, it is gratifying to receive news of public figures that fight against the currents and exhibit a character worthy to be taken notice, like in the case of this young athlete.

The football player, Tim Tebow, quarterback for the University of Florida, is worthy to take notice of, not only for being one of the most valuable players by taking his team, the Florida Gators, to conquer the National Championship in more than one occasion, but also for a characteristic that draws the attention of million s of spectators.

Tim writes biblical verses on his face, proclaiming his faith and passion for Jesus to the world. The search engine, Google, reports record breaking searches of the content of these verses. This type of platform to proclaim the gospel is exactly what Tim’s parents prayed for even before his birth. Tim’s father, Bob, a missionary in the Philippians, had a burden in his heart for the many abortions in the United States and prayed for God to give him a son, and promised that he would raise him to be a preacher.

Shortly after, when Pam Tebow discovered she was expecting, their faith was put to a test.  After many complications in the pregnancy Doctors advised them to abort but they refused. Born small and weak, Timmy struggled from the very beginning but, his parents continued to declare that God had a purpose for him and he would call him to preach his word.

His father was right, the message would reach millions but they did not imagine the platform that would be used. Tim is a great example of how a believer can put his faith to work in whatever platform God has placed us. Take the challenge and take a stand for your faith and fulfill your purpose in Christ!
