Let’s talk like God

If we were created in the image of God, then we can and should take a good look at God’s attributes.  If we begin by taking a look at the book of Genesis we can easily see that God has power in his words.  Everything was created (with the exception of man) by the power of his word.  And everything is supported by the power of his word “and The Lord said…. And the Lord said….and the Lord said” (Genesis 1).  If we go through the old and new testament, we will notice that God fulfilled his will through his word.   This brings light to Proverbs 18:21, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

All men should understand that God has given power to our tongue, the power for good and evil.  Knowing this, we need to choose to speak words that edifiy those that surround us.  Speak words that heal, liberate, restore so that we can follow what is written in Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Let’s heal our marriages with what we speak, our children, our families, our condition, our surroundings.  Edify everyone that God has placed around you.  Declare life and not death, faith and not doubt, prosperity and scarcity, blessings and not gossip, gratefulness and not complaints.

Let’s use our words for good and not evil.  Let’s talk like God!
